What is DNS?

DNS stands for Domain Name System. Think of DNS like the phonebook of the internet. Instead of remembering long IP addresses (like 64.247.43.26), DNS helps your computer find the website by translating easy-to-remember domain names (like taloshosting.com) into those IP addresses.


How the Internet Talks: IP Addresses and Service Providers
